5. Five fucking Russian Spambots have friended me in the last two days. This is fucking ridiculous. Yes, I've reported them, but they're still here watching me. Go to hell, you stoopid bastards. Mabi....how do I say that in Russian so they'll understand? Grrrrrr!

Exactly when is LJ going to give us the power to ban people from friending us? I don't mean commenting, I mean just 'no you can't read my stuff ever go the hell away.'

It does get ridiculous at times. Someone else got friended by seven Russian bots in one day.

I found four more this morning when I signed on. Dreamwidth is looking better every day.

I had four more when I got home this evening, but LJ had already zapped them.

I woke up this morning to find 4 of them friended me over night. It would be nice for LJ's friending procedure to be more like requests that can be denied or accepted. In the meantime, you can hover over the userpic (or even just the little head icon). It will give you a menu with an option to report as a bot. It automatically fills in the persons name in the reporting page so you just click to send.

Interesting that LJ recognizes the bot problem enough to implement a mildly easier way of reporting them, but doesn't do anything about preventing them.

Thanks for reminding me about the hover...I was cutting/pasting them into the report form.

Of course, the spam bots are primarily Russian, and LJ is now Russian owned, and if my internal calendar can be believed, the spam botting started (or at least got extremely bad) just when LJ transferred to the Russian company.

Interesting.

I'm certain there is something connected there.

I'm pretty sure they said 'never' :-P

I never say never...they could get tired of having to police so much and let us take over eventually.
