This is in the news today:
Dog drags newborn from family home
There's a picture there. Mixed breed...yeah, mostly wolf. I know from wolves. We see a lot of their genes in the mixed breeds here, especially in the sled dogs. I hate exotic animals as pets. Wild things belong in the wild, especially wolves. They are not and never will be domesticated and I think that's a good argument for not messing with dog genetics. And this article is an equally good argument for not letting people own wolves as pets. I don't blame the dog for acting on instinct. The parents are fully to blame for giving the animal access to their child. I never left my kid alone around anyone's pets, even our own. I love my current dog and I know how incredibly gentle he is with kids and still wouldn't leave him alone with a baby.
Darwinism in action.
And I'll say it again because it's important: Wild things belong in the wild, damn it.
