Favorite Christmas Movie Moments
Friday, December 4th, 2009 10:21 amI thought I'd post a few of my favorite moments in my favorite movies and see if maybe they resonate for you too.
1) Rudolph: "Bumbles bounce!" Hee!
2) Rudolph: When Santa comes to get the Misfit toys. My heart just shines.
3) Scrooge the Musical: Best ever end scene. Albert Finney makes me believe Scrooge has changed when he's crying and shouting, "I'm alive! I'm alive and I will not be the man I've been!"
4) Santa Claus the Movie: When Burgess Meridith as the Old Elf comes to proclaim Klaus as 'Santa Claus.' So moving.
5) Santa Claus the Movie: The 'elf' puns throughout the movie. "He just needs a little elf-control." *snort!*
6) The Santa Clause (1): When Tim is undressing in his North Pole room for the first time and the Punch and Judy dolls start screaming when he drops his pants. I laugh every time!
7) The Santa Clause (1): When Judd Hersch as Neal looks at Scott and realizes he's really Santa. His eyes get big and he says 'Santa?' in a 3 year old's voice. It's one of the most amazing pieces of acting I've ever seen.
8) The Santa Clause 2: The vintage toy gifts to the teachers. Rock-em Sock-em Robots! Toss Across! I want all of them!
9) The Santa Clause 2: Lucy and Tooth Fairy. She's just so sweet and he's a total hoot! Molinator. *hee!*
10) For the non-religious, skip if you wish. Ben Hur: Not usually considered a Christmas movie and yet in the scene where Ben is dragged off in chains to become a slave and the man at the well risks his life to give him water moves me every time. This is the Christ whose birth I celebrate...one who does a small act of kindness at great personal risk. That's the true meaning of Christmas for me.
