Behind the cut for spoilers. Seriously. Don't look if you didn't see it.

R U kidding? )

Well, that was quick. Silver turned down "Passage." She said she couldn't connect to the story or characters. Huh. Well, on to the next I guess.

It's been really quiet here and I'm wondering if it's due to the DoS attacks or am I just boring?

I have my kid's cold. Or maybe it was someone elses'. Not that it matters. I'm just miserable.

Weather is still chilly but sunny and most of yesterday's snowfall has melted off since yesterday morning. The DH has my car and is going to take the studded tires off so it better not snow again!

Yeah, it kinda wrote itself. Not graphic and just under 1,500 words. Anyone feel up to smacking me upside the head?

Beta(s)?

Holy mother of fic, I don't know where this story came from but it's done at last. The ending took a twist I didn't see coming, but it worked.

So, I'm looking for a beta or two for 11,300-ish words of Jack/Daniel and John/Rodney. Mild everything as per my usual. Since it's 1:30 in the morning, I'm not so confident about my grammar or spelling, but I'm thinking the plot is worthy. Any takers? (I'll check back tomorrow..yawn!)

Too funny!

I haven't looked at everything here yet, but I was chuckling before I got done with the first page. Think of it as a blurb instead of a book title, or maybe truth in advertising LOL! Twilight has to be in there someplace.

The muse is nibbling on me! I need a name for a hero.

Backstory on this request: As you know, I've been watching my first season of B5 and it occurred to me that I had once-upon-a-long-time-ago, written up a story outline for a B5 fic. I've also have a couple chapters written and I while I like the story somewhat, I don't really want to write B5 anymore. (MS's insistence that no one should write or post any B5 fics has something to do with that I suppose. What an arrogant asswipe he is.)

Anyway, after reading what I had, I was thinking it would lend itself pretty well to the world I built for my first sf romance manuscript, 'Welcome to Andromeda.' I'm getting the urge to write it, but I need a new name for Michael Garibaldi's character. My hero in Andromeda was named Axel Callahan and his best friend/second in command was Gil Hardy. I have Gil's story in my head, but never wrote it and he has a very different look/character so I can't use him for this story.

The character will be much like Garibaldi in that he is somewhat socially awkward, tough, feared, works in security and is a recovering alcoholic. For the first half of the story he is going to be undercover on a smuggler ship. He won't mean to fall in love with one of the ship's navigators who is not completely sane, but the heart wants what the heart wants. Sorry, it's het sex, btw.

I want to start working on it soon, but it may languish like all my stuff, or may wait to be this year's NaNo for me. I may not find the right name from your suggestions, but I feel like if I hear it, I'll know in my gut it's the right one. I've yet to pull up the right one in all the musing I've been doing.

So, anyone got any ideas? (Yes, I'll consider Evan, mabi. :oD Even tho you already have a movie named after you.)

ETA: I'm considering the name Trey. What do you think? Would you laugh? Or does it sound manly? This is sf/futuristic, so names can be a little odd.

Pissy little rant

Dear SGA fanfic writers:

If I have to read one more fic about how the Tauri need to be kicked out of Atlantis because they don't belong, I will spit.

A) It was said very early on that the reason some of the humans have the Ancient gene is because the Ancients interbred with them. Therefore they are the descendants of the Ancients and DO have a valid claim to Atlantis.

B) Most of the other races are not at the same technological level to make use of the Ancient devices so if they can't use the city, even if they have the gene, then what the hell do they want it for????? Don't give me 'sacred, so kill the blasphmers' because the Athosians thought it was sacred too but they still had no problem living there sometimes or turning it over to the Tauri.

C) The Tauri offer to help defend using the Ancient tech so it's a good trade off that can't just be ignored.

D) The Ancients themselves were not from Pegasus so they were intruders too. What makes them any more deserving to stay?

Get with the program damn it.

Meantime, I am sad that I am running out of good long SGA fics to read. I can see the fandom winding down. I don't care for most of the AU fics altho I have read some and like them. But most of the "John is whore and Rodney his client" or "John/Airline pilot and Rodney/millionaire playboy" type AUs just do not appeal to me.

Work time. Sigh. (I did add to my NaNo word count today tho.)

NaNoing Woots

I started this morning at 20,424 and just hit 24,000. It's such a pretty even number, it impressed me. Okay, so I should be at 26,672 today to be on track for finishing in time, but I'm just so happy to have done almost 4,000 words in one day, I had to stop and take a break to woot a bit.

The sulky teen is out with his buddies and the DH is making dinner for us, so I'm going back to the grindstone. I want to hit the number I'm supposed to be at today so when I work tomorrow and don't write much, I won't be too far behind again.

Taking a NaNo-second here to salute the passing of three authors in the past week:
Tony Hillerman on Oct. 26, Studs Terkel on Oct. 31 and Michael Crichton who passed today. All prolific, talented authors.
Now back to writing.

I've gone insane before but this is the first time I've gone crazy in this particular manner. I signed up for an Alphabet Fic-a-thon over here:
http://sg-fignewton.livejournal.com/70995.html?nc=6&style=mine

I'm not sure I could do this for anyone but George/Don. Didn't hurt the plot bunny hit the minute I read about this either. :o)

I've signed up for the letter M. Yes. You know me. You know what you're getting. *hee!* I'll be looking for a beta eventually. *broad hint*
