It looks better since I fluffed it more. I have the star on top now too, but the decos won't go on til Sunday when the DH can get into the storage in daylight hours to find the boxes.

Yes, that is Santa Kitty on the right. He's going to work with me tomorrow.

Our tree goes up tonight. My nephew wants to make a big thing out of it with his fiancee. Or possibly it was her idea to do something with the family and that was what he came up with.

She'd like to do more things with us. He'd prefer to keep on pretending we don't exist (until he needs something). LOL

Sounds to me like she's good for him. I always called my pals and family for a tree-trimming party when I was first living on my own. Good excuse to make chili and mulled wine. :o)

Change of plans due to snow. Emily isn't coming, the tree is up, no decorating until she can come on Thursday. *sigh*

I think she's very good for him, but I wonder how long he'll be willing to do nice, ordinary, inexpensive things like spend time with family, go to church or window shop when he'd much rather be getting drunk, shooting pool or watching porn. He's putting up with things in order to get what he wants: Emily.

Time will tell. But the attitude he's shown to his mother and me regarding all of this sucks. *shakes head*

It looks good! :-D We're planning on going out and getting a tree today. We're home for Christmas this year so we're going to get a real tree and leave the fake one packaged up.

I gave up on the real ones when the other people in the house refused to help put up/tend/take down the tree. It's my baby, so I do it easy. I do miss the smell of the real ones tho. Sigh.

Can't wait to see the finished look! Do you still have those little chinese lantern ornaments? I still have the one you gave my. It's packed up this year, but maybe next year, I'll be more into doing a proper tree with all my 'heirlooms' on it.

Yes, I still have those, but haven't put them on the tree for a few years. I got those in SF Chinatown back in the 70's! I'll post another pic when it's all done.

Cute tree! It'll look fantastic once you get the decorations on it. :-) I'll have to help my grandparents decorate this year, so it should be interesting. She doesn't usually do more than bows on the tree, and I haven't seen anything Christmas-ey in the house (other than the tree) since I was a kid. It promises to be an easy night of decorating, lol!

I'm at the point where I need to weed out my tree ornaments and get rid of some. I don't think we'll ever have a huge tree again. I used to decorate every room in the house, but I think I've just gotten lazy in my old age.

That tree looks just like the one my parents had until quite recently!

For years we had an even smaller, sadder little tree that we'd set up on a table top. We got a bigger (though still fake) one after Small Child was born, I think.

I have the little table top one we had last year still and I'll probably keep it as a back up since it was a nice little tree.

I still have to get our 3 trees down from the garage attic yet as I'm the only one who can get to them. I think Shmo's having the white one in her room, the black one's going in the hall (no space in the front room) and the lilac one is going to be given to the nursery. I've no idea what decs we're going to put up or where this year as it's a new house and I have very little time these days.

Can't wait to see the finished results on your tree hun, and yes I know I still owe you pics from Halloween I'm still waiting for my mum to email them to me..

One of my sisters kept a tree up in her kid's room for a year and let them decorate it for each holiday, birthday and a few they made up.

I want to see pics of the black tree! Sounds awesome!

That sounds really cool, but sadly Shmo doesn't have space in her room for a tree all year round.

It's the same tree we had last year, although I'm tempted to put up the purple spider lights and pumpkin fairy lights this year. >:)We do have some weird and wonderful decorations for it including knitted baubles and fluffy birds.
