My holiday

Besides all my nice gifts, I managed to get a touch of the flu for Christmas which left me feeling pretty rough for a few days and then I had to dive right back into 2 full days of work, so I'm tired and my tum is still a bit dicey. However, I got some nice stuff!

My DH is a terrible shopper and stuff I want, you can't get around here, so I mostly bought my own things and had him wrap them for me. Top of my list were these two collectible figurines from the Crinkle Carousel collection that are only available on ebay these days. The lion has been very elusive and the music box horse was a real steal/gem/treasure! It plays...no, not the Carousel Waltz...All the Pretty Little Horses! Is that not too cute? I adore them.

DH picked up a few other little things to surprise me including a copy of JKRowling's newest book, Beadle the Bard. I also got DVD's of 'Little Woman' and 'Labyrinth'. I have 2 gift certificates to spend; one at Fred Meyer and the other at JoAnn Fabrics. I got the DH dvd's of 'Seraphim Falls' and '3:10 To Yuma'. My galpal in the UK sent me a nifty wear-many-ways fleece hat, some awesome bling and the neatest cocoa mix ever! It's like this:

only better as it has little white stars of white chocolate in it. Can't wait to try it.

However, surprise of the day for me: the sulky teen shopped for me, on his own, with his own money and got me this:

If you can't read it, it's a nice Christmas card and a gift certificate for $30 from our one local hoity-toity book store. My jaw dropped when I opened it. And the card was so NICE.

Probably the best part of the gifting was hiding the sulky teen's new tv until after he opened all the small stuff we got him and then sliding the huge box out to give him. He was really happy with it in spite of his insisting he didn't want anything for Christmas.

Buddy, on the other hand, joined in with joy in everything.
He was fascinated by rustling paper.

Finally, he couldn't contain himself and snatched the paper from off a gift and ran with it back to his new bed.

Next he proceeded to do his 'rip, spit, rip, spit' routine and made a grand mess.

We finally persuaded to give it up to play with his new toy.

"I waz gud all year and Santa gave me a bone!"

My galpal came for dinner and our roast pork, roasted potatoes and apple/onion/rye stuffing came out excellent. I couldn't eat a lot, but it was tasty. I've been sticking with the diet fairly well, but need to get back on the bandwagon full time now. I'll be looking for some more low-salt goods at the store tomorrow as I want to make some bbq sauce for myself. Plus I intend to order some low-salt cookbooks at the bookstore to get with my gift certificate.

That was our holiday. Quiet which is just the way I like them. No plans for New Years. We have sub-zero weather and plenty of snow.
