delphia2ohohoh: (myBuddybyme)
Buddy has his surgery today to remove a very large lipoma (fatty tumor) on his leg/groin area. It was getting big enough that it was starting to interfere with his walking, so we had to risk the surgery to take it off. We have a great vet and I trust that if he thought Buddy was in good enough shape to go thru the surgery, then I'm sure he'll come thru fine, but I can't help but worry about my fur child. The vet will also be looking at two very small bumps that don't seem to be fatty tumors and could be problematic. Buddy is old enough that he has a lot of lumps and bumps, but most can be ignored as they don't affect the quality of his life and they are of the lipoma/cyst variety that aren't dangerous, so he will still be a lumpy old guy when he gets home this afternoon. Buddy is 11 this month so we're hoping this will help make his golden years a bit more comfortable.

ETA: He's home and resting quietly on his bed with a towel under him. He's got a drain tube in that has to come out in 5 days and stitches out 5 days after that. Just a matter of keeping him quiet for the next few days. Thanks for all the good thoughts! Please keep them going as he is in a little danger of infection still.
