Palin to resign as Alaska Governor

Okay, well, I didn't see that coming. Not that I'm sorry. But her Lt. Gov Sean Parnell is pretty much as crack-brained as she is.

Dang. We won't have Sarah to kick around anymore. Altho, since she's probably going to run for President....LOL! Let the games begin!

ETA: There are some really interesting rumors out there, some listed here at The Mudflats Blog which I highly rec for great information about Alaska politics. Apparently some Federal investigating is going on regarding Sarah's house and the Sports Complex she had built when she was Mayor of Wasilla. Interesting indeed!

Just a note of caution with anyone who banks with Wells Fargo, here's my sad tale that might help you avoid being ripped off.

As can happen with anyone, I ended up with an overdraw this past week caused by an unexpected automatic payment. In the morning, I checked my balance online and went shopping to two grocery stores making sure I didn't over-spend. Later that day, unbeknown to me, my new insurance company decided to withdraw my payment, without letting me know the date they were going to be taking it. Wells, with their sharp clever little minds, changed the order of my draws so that instead of paying one overdraw on the insurance payment, they took the insurance payment out first, and then charged me two more overdraws on the two earlier transactions.

Since it's been a very long time since I had an overdraw, it was a shock to find that Wells now charges $31 per overdraw...which happens to be a bit more than the $20 my credit union charges. Adding that up...3 x $31 = $93. You can see why I'm a bit ticked with Wells. I have no problem paying for a mistake, but this is outrageous.

I think it's an unfair policy and my discussion with their service department didn't garner me any satisfaction. (She offered to return only one of the unfair fees.) I know my little paycheck (and my DH's) isn't a hill of beans to them, but I do not deserve this kind of treatment even if I'm not some big oil company.

And no, I don't have overdraft protection because when I did, and someone stole my credit card number, they were also able to clean out my savings account. It took me over a month to get it all cleaned up and my money back. Banks do not care if you don't have enough money to eat and pay the rent even if it is their fault. I'll never do overdraft 'protection' again!

As inconvenient as it is, it looks like I'll be dealing solely with the credit union in the next city over. If you, or any one you know, banks with Wells, I hope you'll consider finding a new, more fair, banking institution. At the very least, please spread the word: Wells sucks.
