Noooooooo!

I just can't believe this:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31103217/
It says that David Carradine committed suicide. They found his body in his hotel room in Bangkok, Thailand. He was there working on a movie.

I'm sorry, but I think the Thai police are covering something up. He was working, was staying at a luxury hotel...he loved his work and he seemed to have been in a good place in his life. I can't see why he'd kill himself. It just seems so wrong.

In any case, my heart just aches. He was a part of my first real online fandom, Kung Fu The Legend Continues. I've always thought he was a brilliant actor, very underrated. He acted the way Astaire danced...effortlessly. He certainly had his share of troubles in his life and I hope he's found peace. I'm sure Kim was there to show him the way to the light.

Rest in Peace, David

I can't believe it either, Amy. I can't see him killing himself.

Alisa put up a site for lighting a candle. I am going to put it on my LJ

I'll be sure to go there and am going to light one at Mass for him on Sunday. I can't imagine how Alisa is feeling right now since she was always his No.1 fan. This is just too sad.

It's a terrible loss. I thought of you instantly when I saw it. :(

My gosh--I'm really shocked too. I'm so sorry.

And then there are some reports saying it was natural causes. I think right now too many people are still in shock to dig too deeply, but hopefully soon more details will surface.

Thanks. This is just a rotten way to start the day.

Thanks. I just can't believe it.

He was in his 70's and his health was not what it could have been since he'd been abusing his body for so many years, so natural causes would be so much more likely.

Thanks. I really needed that.

you were my first thought when i heard the news. {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{delph}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

honestly, i'm wondering if maybe he was sick. i was trying to figure out WHY - and all i could come up with was if he were sick, if it was something bad and painful with no hopeful prognosis. then i can see a man like him (or at least who i understood him to be from interviews and such) deciding to go on his own terms.

it's just terrible.

he will be missed.

I heard he died but I didn't hear it was suicide.

Sad...

[identity profile] delphia2000.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for the big hug. I sure need it.

Sick or not, this just isn't David's style. I could see him making a decision like this and using a hari kari knife, but hanging? No. I sincerely think the Thais are covering something up and I hope the family is able to clear this up.

He never got the recognition he deserved.

I still don't believe it. He just wasn't like that. In any case, he will be very missed. He was the reason I started watching Kung Fu the Legend Continues.

Have you seen this? The last official statement I heard was that they're now calling it accidental, the result of auto-erotic asphyxiation gone awry, but the family is pressing for a full investigation. They do seem now to be ruling out suicide.

[identity profile] delphia2000.livejournal.com 2009-06-07 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I've been keeping up with it and it just makes me even sadder.

Sorry. I thought you might at least feel a little better that they're not calling it suicide any longer.

I've known about that particular sexual practice since the 70's when a very talented comicbook artist, Vaughn Bode died in a similar manner. As much as Mabi rails against organized religion as doing so much evil in the world, I still think sex has done far worse. It causes damage on both an individual/personal level and on a global level with regard to affecting politics. (Where would Napoleon have been without Josephine?) AIDS/HIV is directly related and has caused massive devastation.

I can understand taking charge of your life and making a conscious decision to end it for compelling reasons. I can understand euthanasia when no medical treatment is possible. I may not agree with either of those kinds of decisions, but I can understand. To die because you are driven by sex to choose a risky way to satisfy one's self, is far worse to me. JMHO of course.

I still think there is more to the story and maybe a prostitute was involved and the Thai government is covering that up. It seems possible at least.

Yeah--that's what the family thinks too. I find it odd that his wrists would be tied as well. I don't know much about the practice myself (I first heard of it from X-Files, for heaven's sake!), but I'm thinking that's not normal.

I do think sex is very special (indeed, sacred; I know a lot would disagree with me).
